If there are no adversaries, you may fear that there will be no success. --CH Spurgeon
I was reading a Spurgeon sermon today, and struck by the fact that the battles he fought, are the battles of today. The long war against God waged by the world, the Devil, and our own flesh are the same yesterday, today, and until the day he returns. Let us never get comfortable with peace in these realms.

Yeah. All the battles:
the truth of the scripture, creation, worship, religious excess and psuedo-piety, false teachers, divorce, sexual impropriety, secularization, etc. were being fought by Spurgeon, Luther, Calvin, Edwards, and a host of other faithful men across the ages.
Hence reading Christian history is often more helpful than we realize! But keep fighting brother!
*sigh*
Oh, Spurgeon! Good words, Chad. Thanks for sharing.
And I must say, I am DELIGHTED to see a Spurgeon quote on EBF's website! (More good words!) :)
