Merry Christmas

These puppies and I just wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas!

My wife is an avid Christmas fan, and it makes for a very exciting time around our place!

We have been listening to Christmas music and Christmas sermons by John MacArthur, Alistair Begg, and John Piper, all of which are highly recommended and very encouraging as we grow closer to God and each other in this most celebrated Christian Season.

now, was it this type of dog that was on the ark? Or a different type that magically transformed into this type?

Different dog. Parent specices of some sort. No magic involved...just micro-evolution. From one parent came all the various species.

airlesschimp,

Thank you for your question. You bring up an interesting point. From a Scientific and Biblical persective, we can safely say that these domestically bred puppies would not in fact have been in the ark. However, there would have been a prototype dog-wolf style animal on board.

DARWIN'S SCIENCE

Darwin, amongst others accurately saw the principle of the "Survival of the Fittest" as developing and honing and changing various species over time.

This is a testable, scientific theory, that has evidenced over time its ability to explain adaptation and change.

These benificial mutations are solid science that finds no disagreement with Truth.

DARWIN'S SUPPOSITION

But Darwin didn't stop at science. He decided to try and manipulate this idea, to speculate about the distant past. He began to wonder if mutation could have crated new information and change one species into another.

Darwin repeatedly uses the words, "we may well suppose" in his book, Origin of Species. One author writes succinctly:

Give science a fact and it is invincible. But no one can guess more wildly than a scientist, when he has no compass but his imagination, and no purpose but to get away from God. Darwin uses the phrase "we may well suppose" 800 times and wins for himself a high place among the unconscious humorists by his efforts to explain things that are not true. (William Jennings Bryant on Evolution Reader's Digest August 1925)

WE MAY WELL STOP SUPPOSING

At heart the issue is not science. When we refer to a law of science, such as the Laws of Phisics, the Law of Gravity etc. Biblical Christianity encourages and indeed is the foundation that allows such scince to thrive.

creation
We see the Universe as Created by God with order and logic and reason and beauty and hope. Thus we can discover truth and master scientific knowledge. We see man as created in God's image and able to "think God's thoughts after Him"

fall
But we also are told of the fall of mankind, plunging the universe into futility. Thus we see suffering and the necessity of the survival of the fittest principle.

redemption
Nevertheless, there is hope, for God, through Jesus Christ is restoring the fallen creation, through His church (ie. the people that follow him), and finally upon his return, He will totally reverse the effects of the fall.

Thus the scientist, as a creature created by God is commissioned in the words of the Bible to "have dominion" over the created world, the animals and all that it has. We are to improve our condition, discover new truths and apply them. We need not suppose, we can know!

PHILOSOPHIC SPECULATIONS UNNECESSARY

Origins Science, the knowledge of the origin of the world, does not need to be based on speculations of "we may well suppose". No we can KNOW the origin of the universe. All facts were created through Jesus Christ, for the purpose of pointing to Jesus Christ and for His use. He created them, as He described in Genesis one (and other Scriptures).

Thus we can stop spending millions of dollars and wasting millions of man hours, trying to discover the big bangs origin, and focus on true science, curing aids, feeding the hungry, improving the standard of living, knowing more about the Universe that is, and through the framework provided in the Bible, piece together the facinating history of the universe, in order to understand both it and God better.
